Meet the face
behind the posts
I am the eldest daughter of Vietnamese parents who immigrated to the UK in the 90s. Their ongoing dedication to carving out a better life for us shaped my worldview from an early age, and in adulthood I approach everything with an unrelenting intensity stemming from an absolute fascination with our world and human anthropology.
In 2014, I started learning Danish. The intricacies of the language were very amusing and interesting to me. The word lykke means happiness. Her er der lykke means 'there is happiness here'.
I have deep love for linguistics which started when I was very young and thrown headfirst into learning Cantonese, then English, while maintaining a grasp on my native Vietnamese. I love words that are generally untranslatable, like the German word verschlimmbessern, which means to make something worse in an honest but failed attempt to improve it. (how else would you express that?) I find freedom and comfort in words. Words can destroy cities. Words can heal wounds.

When I created this site, my goal was to create a safe space to record my thoughts and feelings. My aim now is to develop it into a community and news hub that can help others gain knowledge of new and exciting things through my eyes. love&lykke is a platform for you to find out more about things you might already like and discover things you might not have otherwise known.
